Platelet-Rich Fibrin for Anti-Aging

Fibrin is a biological scaffold that forms in response to an injury anywhere in the body. Platelets normally circulate within the blood and will bind to a scaffold of fibrin. When platelets bind to the fibrin scaffold, they become activated and release growth factors. These growth factors start the wound healing and regenerative process by creating new skin cells, collagen, and blood vessels.
At Joie De Vivre MedSpa of Chattanooga Medical Aesthetics & AntiAging, we can harvest PRF by spinning your blood in a centrifuge and concentrating your platelets. We infuse or inject it into the layers of the skin, which in turn, induces collagen fibers, elastin production, and enhanced blood and nutrient flow. This natural healing and rejuvenating process results in new youthful, healthy skin cells.
Aged cells simply do not function the way youthful cells function. Compared to youthful skin cells, aging cells have:
- Less cell turnover and division resulting in dull skin tone, roughness, and age spots.
- 30% less moisture resulting in dry, dehydrated, tired skin.
- Decreased collagen and elastin resulting in sagging and wrinkles.
- Weak cell membranes resulting in nutrient loss and loss of structure.
Injected: PRF injected into the skin and into specific lines on the face or body improves skin quality, resulting in firmer, more elastic, more hydrated, and smoother skin. PRF is also injected into joints to help with chronic pain from osteoarthritis, aging, and injuries.
With Microneedling: PRF applied topically like a serum during microneedling seeps into the microchannel wounds, allowing for better superficial collagen and elastin fiber deposition.
With Facial Fillers: Dermal filler results are lengthened and improved with injected PRF.
The PRF is isolated from a sample of your own blood at our studio. The blood is placed in a centrifuge which spins and separates red blood cells from (and concentrates platelets into) the fibrin. The fibrin, now rich in platelets, is then injected or infused with microneedling. Results are visible over 1-6 months.
PRF treatments may be performed individually to maintain and preserve youthful skin and prevent wrinkles and aging signs. A series of 3 treatments 3-6 weeks apart provides the most corrective and rejuvenating results.
PRF is extremely safe. Since PRF is your own natural fibrin, there is very little risk of any adverse event. Minor bruising, soreness and swelling is expected for a short period of time.
Hydrate well 1-2 days before your treatment for an easy blood draw. Results will be best if you avoid anti-inflammatories (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 1-2 weeks after your treatment. Tylenol is recommended for any discomfort. If you have microneedling, follow the specific aftercare instructions provided for you. Minor bruising, soreness, and swelling is normal and expected after PRF injections.

PRF Microneedling:
Utilizing microneedling, PRF is infused into the superficial dermis, improving texture with acne scars, fine lines, and aging neck. Downtime is minimal and minor redness generally resolves in 1-2 days.
PRF Thread Boost:
PRF is injected and topically applied on the same day as your thread placement treatment. This is proven to decrease healing time, enhance results, and prolong improvement following thread treatments.
